Primary School (New)

• The school uses differentiation in the classroom as well as critical and creative problem-solving and thinking skills to ensure that all of our students are working with purposeful, engaging and active learning situations.

• The PYP is trans-disciplinary meaning students investigate big ideas supported and enriched by the traditional subject areas.

• Students at ICS Paris are instructed, in a trans-disciplinary way, in the following subjects: English, French, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Art, Physical Education and Music. 

We believe that digital technology is extremely useful for providing students with quality learning opportunities they can directly transfer to real life. All our educational spaces have interactive whiteboards and projectors with finger-touch technology.

We have a 1-1 iPad programme starting in Grade 5 to better integrate digital technology in class and to enhance learning at school and at home.

As a Globeducate school, the introduction of LEGO® Education resources is one of the ways we are gradually bringing in an integrated STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Maths) programme.

We are the only school in Paris with an AI and Space Programme. Our Innovation Centre is a hub of creativity, ingenuity, and discovery for all our students.

Our aim is to make learning as meaningful as possible so that children are inspired and motivated in the classroom and become independent learners. Our teachers do this by planning engaging lessons which include active learning through practical tasks, inquiry and exploratory based activities as well as using interactive resources and group work. We use tools such as songs, videos, role‐play and mind‐mapping to help children retain knowledge, deepen their understanding of topics and make links between the various areas of the curriculum. We invite parents and caregivers into the classroom to share their experiences when appropriate and encourage the students to extend their learning at home by applying what they have learnt in the classroom to real life experiences and situations.

English is the language of instruction, providing children with as many opportunities as possible to develop their speaking and comprehension skills. Our primary years program provides students with a variety of interesting contexts and helps them to develop a rich and varied vocabulary.

• French is taught as a second language at ICS Paris. every student learns  4 hours of French each week as part of the curriculum. Students learn from native teachers with special emphasis on Grammar and vocabulary. 

• We support students from Grades 1 to Grade 5 with mother-tongue Japanese and Korean through dedicated classes with our language teachers after school.

• Our students learn Violin from Kindergarten to Grade 5.
• In addition to the Violin class our primary students also have a general music class once a week. Allowing our young minds to explore new instruments and discover their passions. 
• Once a week students go to Aquaboulevard for sports. As a city school, we have a partnership with Aquaboulevard, a waterpark and sports facility 15 minutes away from the school. 
• There is also a full-time Teacher librarian who works with all the classes.

Throughout the school year, the children enjoy a wide range of trips and excursions to museums, galleries, exhibitions, historical sites, theatres and other places of interest linked to the content of their lessons.

We invite professionals and specialists into the classrooms to share their work, expertise and ideas with the students and provide the children with the chance to extend their understanding of concepts and topics studied in class.

From Grade 1 upwards we organise a school trip each year giving the children the opportunity to visit places within France and have the experience of staying overnight away from their families.
