Wellbeing

At our school, we are committed to nurturing the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally. This term, our primary students are taking part in a dedicated programme designed to strengthen the skills that help them understand themselves, connect with others, and navigate everyday challenges with confidence.

Exploring Emotional Intelligence in Primary School

This term, our primary students are embarking on an exciting 8-week journey into Emotional Intelligence (EI). We believe that emotional intelligence is not just a “nice-to-have” skill — it is essential for success both in and out of the classroom.

Understanding emotions, recognising feelings in others, and managing relationships effectively are fundamental to learning, personal growth, and overall well-being. To launch the programme, our Designated Safeguarding Lead & Student Support Coordinator, Mrs Kamath, led an inspiring first assembly for Grades 1–3. Students eagerly identified different emotions, reflected on their own feelings, acted out challenging emotional situations, and even sang songs about how they feel. The enthusiasm and engagement were truly wonderful to see.

As Travis Bradberry reminds us, “Emotional intelligence is the ‘other’ kind of smart. It’s not enough to be good at math, science, or language — you need emotional skills to thrive in life.

Through this programme, our students are building empathy, resilience, and self-awareness — lifelong skills that will support them far beyond the classroom. We look forward to seeing their growth in the weeks ahead.
