Grade 4 & 5 Music Concert

Grade 4 & 5 Music Concert

The notes of violins, guitars, flutes, and clarinets filled the air this week as our Grade 4 and 5 students took to the stage for their highly anticipated instrumental concert. This performance was more than just a show; it was the culmination of months of dedication, practice, and artistic growth that began at the start of the academic year in September.

A Journey of Musical Growth

Our music curriculum is designed as a continuous journey. Before reaching this milestone, students build a strong foundation by learning the violin from Grade 1 through Grade 3.

Upon entering Grade 4, the Special Music Programme opens up a world of choice. Students transition from mandatory violin years to selecting an instrument that truly resonates with them. For the past two years, these students have been honing their skills in:

  • Strings: The elegant Violin

  • Woodwinds: The melodic Flute and the soulful Clarinet

  • Plucked Strings: The versatile Guitar

The Power of the Voice: Weekly Choir

Beyond instrumental mastery, vocal development remains a cornerstone of our curriculum. Every student in Grade 4 and 5 participates in weekly choir classes, where they learn vocal technique, harmony, and ensemble performance.

The choir took center stage during the concert, providing a beautiful vocal contrast to the instrumental pieces. Their performance demonstrated the confidence and choral discipline they have cultivated since the beginning of the year.

Building Bridges to Secondary School

This concert isn’t just a finale—it’s a bridge. The two-year intensive programme in Grades 4 and 5 is specifically designed to prepare our young musicians for the rigors and rewards of Secondary School music.

By mastering these instruments and vocal skills now, students are positioning themselves for a spot in our prestigious Secondary Orchestra or Choir. For those who continue their dedication, the ultimate reward awaits: the opportunity to join the annual international tour to Spain, where our musicians participate in the renowned International Music Festival.

From Early Years to Graduation

We pride ourselves on providing a "perfect continuation" of musical education. Whether a child starts with simple rhythms in Early Years or performs a complex concerto in High School, the path is clear.

"Seeing the progress these students have made since September is truly inspiring. They have moved from basic scales to performing as a cohesive ensemble, showing the grit and passion we love to see in our primary performers."

Congratulations to all our Grade 4 and 5 performers! We look forward to seeing many of you on that stage in Spain in the years to come.
